Among the major smartphone manufacturers, Sony is perhaps the most underrated, but not for lack of reasons. The design, for example: for years the Japanese company manufactures devices and all have the same look, with a little renewal in size and thickness, of course, but nothing to do with innovations carried out by the competition as the curved display of the Samsung Galaxy S6 or the back connectors of LG). Or the user interface: over time has offered very few changes, if not for the integration of some exclusive features of the PlayStation universe. Not that Sony lacks positive aspects like those related to the camera (the latest Xperia models are among the best in terms of image and editing of photos in motion).
For all that, it could be said that Sony tries again in 2017. If already introduced six Android smartphones throughout 2016 (Xperia X, X Performance, XA, XA Ultra, XZ and X Compact), now comes the time of seeing what the new year holds. According to the latest rumors coming from Japan, the manufacturer would have decided to make an "all-in" in 2017 with the announcement of five new models for each price range. This should happen at the Mobile World Congress to be held in March in Barcelona.
High-end smartphones: Sony Xperia Yoshino and Xperia BlancBright
At the moment only the codenames are known, and as the reliability of the source can not be verified, the information of these smartphones can be denied by Sony in the coming weeks. In any case, this is the information we have today: the top of the range would be the Xperia Yoshino smartphone, which should have a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) and integrate a processor Snapdragon 835, flanked by 4 or 6 GB of RAM LPDDR4. There are still many doubts about the presence of that SoC, because Qualcomm was originally going to grant this SoC exclusively to Samsung until April. For the Sony Xperia BlancBright is expected to incorporate a 5.5 inch screen with Quad HD resolution and chipset Snapdragon 835 or Snapdragon 635.
Mid-range smartphones: Sony Xperia Keyaky, Xperia Hinoki and Xperia Mineo
As for the mid-range, this space should be occupied by two models: the Xperia Keyaky and the Xperia Hinoki, both with MediaTek Helio P20 processor. According to the source, the first will have a Full HD display of 5.2 inches, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and 23 and 16 megapixel (rear and front) cameras, while the second smartphone would propose a 5-inch HD display, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, and 16 and 8 megapixel cameras. For the last smartphone, the Xperia Mineo, there are no details about the hardware section, and only the probable price is known: $ 350. The first two models, either with integrated Snapdragon 835 or with another processor, could reach the market in the second quarter of 2017, while the availability of the other three is scheduled for March.
