The new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus attract more and more attention awaiting its official presentation (scheduled for next March 29). This has given rise to an accumulation of rumors that allowed to intuit in advance the design of the new smartphone. Few secrets remain unknown, and even less today. Samsung has made a comparison of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus with the other competitors, and also with previous generations of the Galaxy S.

Size does matter

The images come directly from @OnLeaks, which has shown a dimensional comparison between the new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6. The comparison reveals the magnitude of the new Galaxy S8 Plus, which stands out over other devices (especially by height). In fact, the new Infinity Display has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and 159 mm.

A height never even reached by Samsung with the Galaxy Note 7, which had a size of 153.5 mm. For the rest of devices, we can see how the normal version of Galaxy S8 (ie, with 5.8 inches) has a height of 148.9 mm. The size of the S7, on the other hand, has 5.1 inches.

But the comparison does not stop there. We can also check the differences with respect to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In this case we see that the approach of the two companies has been very different, with a strong optimization of the edges by Samsung, which has allowed to obtain a wider useful surface of the screen while maintaining the same dimensions of the iPhone. While they are quite similar in size, the differences are important. Samsung has achieved 6.2 inches in contrast to Apple's 5.5 inches.

In summary, the new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus seem to have found the best solution in terms of space management, to mitigate the increase in physical size in the final product. At this point, we'll soon find out if this will lead to improvements in practice or if turning the screen surface into a whole place could undermine the use of the smartphone during normal activities (with inadvertent touches on the screen).

The world's most secure smartphones - Iris Scanner and Face Recognition

Perhaps many have not heard, but the Samsung Galaxy S8 is being announced as one of the most secure smartphone in the world. Recent rumors from South Korea confirm that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will offer facial recognition technology. This feature is added to the presence of a fingerprint sensor and the iris scanner to complete a data sheet of excellent technological quality.

The iris scanner made its debut in the Galaxy Note 7, but it has not been without critics, even in spite of the little presence that had this device in the market, retired due to the known problems of overheating. On the one hand, it is true that the iris scanner adds an additional level of security, but, on the other hand, in many cases, procedures for unlocking the phone have proven to be excessively long.

For this reason, Samsung would have added facial recognition. With a face scanner, the user will take less than 0.01 seconds to unlock the phone, as confirmed by a Samsung representative. Therefore, this rumor is, once again, only speculation which, however, seems to have a logical explanation. Be that as it may, all these doubts will stop being the March 29, date in which these top of the range smartphones will be presented to the press.
